SAT Workshop for Teens

Saturdays, noon to 2 p.m., beginning September 12, 19, 26; October 3, 10, 17. Cost: $80 Non-Refundable. Get ready for the SATs by attending this review workshop at the Library. The workshop will focus on both the math and verbal sections. An $80 nonrefundable fee is due at time of registration. Please make check or money order payable to Melissa Bielawski. Registration is limited. Freeport residents can sign up at anytime; nonresidents can sign up starting September 2.

Defensive Driving (for everyone)

AARP Mature Drivers Courses

WEDNESDAYS, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., SEPTEMBER 2 or OCTOBER 7. Cost: $12 for AARP members; $14 for nonmembers, by check or money order payable to AARP. Nonresidents may register for the September 2 class starting August 25; Nonresidents may register for the October 7 class starting October 1.

October is Archives Month

The Freeport Memorial Library, in partnership with the Freeport Historical Society, is maintaining two online resources for Freeport history. Long Island Memories – http://www.longislandmemories.org/. This collection includes over 2,100 images pertaining to Freeport’s history and local newspapers from 1895 are available fully searchable on the web.
Freeport History Blog – http://www.freeportlihistory.blogspot/. com . This portal to historical information about the Village includes population information, biographies of notable residents, urban legends, historical locations and much more.

La Biblioteca Conmemorativa de Freeport continuará el programa popular para ayudar a las personas que hablan español, a mejorar sus habilidades conversacionales en inglés, y las personas que hablan inglés, a mejorar sus habilidades conversacionales en español. Los participantes alternaran conversaciones en inglés y luego en español por intercambios de 15 minutos. No hay maestro ni instrucción requeridos para estas sesiones. También se proveerá refrigerios ligeros. Freeport Memorial Library is bringing back its popular program to help native Spanish speakers improve their English conversation skills and help native English speakers improve their Spanish conversation skills. Participants alternate speaking in English, then in Spanish, in 15-minute intervals. There is no teacher or instruction provided during these sessions. Light refreshments are available.

Nassau County Assessment Outreach Program

Presented by Nassau County Department of Assessment on Wednesday, September 23, 2 to 4 p.m. The Department of Assessment will bring its office operations to the Library. Volunteers will have laptop computers linked to the county’s database to help process your property tax exemption applications such as Basic and Enhanced STAR, Veterans, Senior Citizens, Cold War Veterans, Volunteer Firefighter and Ambulance Worker, Disabilities Limited Income, and Home Improvement.
