Long Island Blood Drive presented by Long Island Blood Services
On Thursday, May 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Long Island Blood Services will be at the Library to collect blood. Donors must be between the ages of 17 and 75 and weigh at least 110 pounds. Bring valid ID and your Social Security number. To schedule an appointment, please call the Reference Department at 516-379-3274, ext. 505.
Holocaust Survivors Remembered
On Wednesday, May 11 at 2 p.m. join the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County, as they present a program about Holocaust survivors. Listen to this riveting lecture by a Holocaust survivor, who will talk about how he lived through the ordeal and what he endured during this disgraceful time in history.

On Monday, May 9 from 7 to 9 p.m., if you are dying to know more about the lives and final resting places of Freeport’s pillars, killers, and notables, then join us on a virtual cemetery tour where we will discuss the lives of John J. Randall, William Clinton Story, George Morton Levy, Florence Carman, Guy Lombardo, and others.

Art lecture: Tiffany’s Laurelton Hall
On Monday, June 13 at 2:30 p.m., join author Monica Randall for a lecture on Laurelton Hall. Louis Comfort Tiffany, the master glassworks genius, completed his hundred-room Oyster Bay mansion in 1905. It became the setting for some of the most dazzling parties ever hosted in the country. Many of the rare images presented are from a private collection belonging to Tiffany’s granddaughter, Louise L. Platt.
A Tribute to Peggy Lee presented by the Diane Hoffman Jazz Quartet
On Sunday, May 1 at 2:30 p.m., Enjoy some of Peggy Lee's biggest hits performed by the Diane Hoffman Jazz Quartet. Peggy Lee was first propelled to fame in the 1940s when she sang with the Benny Goodman Band. She wrote hundreds of songs and was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in Pete Kelly’s Blues.
Dennis Blackwell, Baritone
On Sunday, May 15, 2:30 p.m., Mr. Blackwell will perform at the Library. A versatile artist who has received critical acclaim for his work in opera, concert, recital and musical theatre, he has also appeared with the New York City Opera, New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players, and Caramoor Opera, among others.
Freeport Community Chorale Spring Concert
Superstars of Classical Music presented by Philip Malamud
On Thursday, May 26 at 2 p.m., join us for the third and final part of this series, we will listen to homegrown virtuosos. In the twentieth century, the United States and Canada emerged as leaders in producing worldclass performers. Isaac Stern, Garriote Ohlsson, Joshua Bell, and others will be featured.

Job Club
Join our Job Club to obtain support, share information, and network with other members. Facilitated by the Library’s career counselor, this group will meet twice monthly on Saturday mornings. Each meeting will focus on a specific topic relating to job search and/or career advancement. See flyers for upcoming dates or call the JEIC department at 516-379-3274, ext. 504. Travel through the beautiful countryside of the North Fork of Long Island, past family farms and acres of greenery, and enjoy a stroll along the streets of Greenport. We will dine on a delicious lunch at the Sound View Inn, and then we’re off to a wine tasting at Pindar Winery, one of the largest wineries on Long Island. On our way home, we will stop at Briermere Farms to pick up some homemade treats. Freeport residents may sign up starting Tuesday, May 10; nonresidents starting Tuesday, May 17.

On Friday, June 3, at 2:30 p.m., learn all about trees and shrubs, which are the backbone of the garden, and how to choose the best varieties for the best locations. This program is presented by the Cornell Cooperative extension of Nassau County.
One Stroke Painting for Adults presented by Karen Davidson
On Thursday, June 9, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., join us for an afternoon of acrylic painting. Learn to blend, shade, and highlight all in one stroke. No prior art experience necessary. This class is a prerequisite for all future One Stroke classes. Class size is limited to 10.
